This month, Badminton Ireland launched our SMASH Cancer Campaign at the Irish Open. The campaign aims to encourage the Badminton Community to run initiatives to raise much-needed funds for Cancer research, including open nights, collection buckets and raffles. As part of the Campaign, Badminton Ireland has also launched a raffle which includes prizes such as a paid trip to the Yonex All England, a full box of shuttles, meet and greet with the HP players, and much more. Tickets for the raffle are on sale via the SMASH-Cancer.com website.
Helping to spread the word on this new campaign where High-Performance players Sam, Chloe and Josh Magee and Nhat Nguyen along with BI Chair Ronan Rooney and CEO David McGill. Former BI President and wife of the late Peader, Breda Connolly was also there to show support.
Speaking at the Launch, CEO David McGill said “Badminton Ireland is delighted to launch the SMASH Cancer. It is a fantastic idea that I think a lot of the Badminton Community will get behind. Cancer affects everyone, and it is important to not only raise awareness but also much-needed funds for Cancer research. With our 120th Anniversary this year, it also gives us a platform to really drive this campaign forward. It’s a cause very close to my own heart, and I hope the entire Badminton Community will get involved”
Chairman Ronan Rooney added “This campaign is a very fitting tribute to not only Peader but the entire Badminton Community who has been impacted by Cancer”
The Campaign and Raffle are now officially open. Individuals and Clubs can learn more about how to get involved by visiting the SMASH Cancer website HERE
